Successful long-term weight loss can only be achieved through a multidiciplinary approach that includes dietary intervention, exercise plan, behavioral modifications and medication adjustment. Participants in the Why WAIT program at the Joslin Diabetes Center lost an average of 24 lbs in 12 weeks and maintained -6.4% weight loss at 5 years. More than 50% maintained an average of -9% weight loss for 5 years.
